Boxwoods are great plants for developing a very formal look in the garden. If you were to go to a garden center and buy enough to make a hedge you would be looking at a very expensive purchase! Boxwoods can be propagated very easily which makes this a great method for developing that formal look of a boxwood hedge for a very low cost or even free! In late spring you can take greenwood cuttings about 4 to 5 inches in length, remove half the leaves from the cut end and place in a rooting medium. It's a very simple process that can generate a ton of new plants for free! In this video I took 48+ cuttings in one small flat. The boxwood cuttings should root in 4 to 6 weeks and be ready to plant in the garden in about a year depending on how fast they grow.
