A full Trip Report dedicated to experiencing the Boeing 767-400, the rarest 767 variant, in all its glory! And the perspective of how to get the best experience flying this iconic airliner as an aviation enthusiast! For the first time in 19 years Delta Airlines resumed scheduled B767-400 service between Atlanta and Miami, while also becoming one of the shortest active 767-400 routes in the world once again! For an aircraft that is usually used only on long-haul routes, seeing the 764 back on a short domestic hop made this flight very unique and the perfect opportunity for U.S aviation enthusiasts to get a cheaper alternative to flying a widebody airliner without leaving the country or flying long-haul! On a personal note, this flight was a major milestone for me. It was part of my 1st ever solo trip, my 1st flight onboard a widebody aircraft, and my 1st time flying in Premium Economy (or anything above basic economy). This flight was an unforgettable experience and is one I will cherish forever! It was introduced in the late 1990s and entered service in the early 2000s to fill the gap between the 767-300 and larger widebodies like the 777. It featured a longer fuselage, updated avionics, and a redesigned wing, making it the most advanced 767 variant. Despite being a capable and well-liked aircraft, the 764 struggled commercially due to poor timing and market overlap. It arrived just as airlines were moving toward other widebodies and newer designs such as the 787, while also being close in size and capability to the already popular 767-300. With limited range growth, few customers, and no freighter variant, the 767-400 ultimately was not a success. Only 38 airframes were built, all still flying today, and Delta Air Lines remains the largest operator of the type, flying 21 airframes while United flies 16 and the Bahrain Air Force operates 1 for private use. __________________ Trip Report overview: In this video, I covered the full experience of flying onboard Delta’s very own B767-400 from Atlanta to Miami, including the cabin, seat comfort, service, and overall impressions of flying this iconic widebody on such a short and historic route as an aviation enthusiast! Overall, this flight onboard the best flight I’ve had so far with so many great memories! The pilots were very friendly and I greatly enjoyed flying in Delta’s Premium Selectseats. The flight was smooth with beautiful views of the Gulf coast and morning sunshine into Miami, and the flight arrived ahead of schedule despite departing 25 minutes later than expected! My only negative review: out of the entire flight, I was unable to get the wifi to work. Like usual, wifi is included but for some reason I couldn’t get it to work on this flight, which I had found odd considering it worked great on the 757-200. Thoughts on Seat 21F + Premium Select: Onboard the 764, it is certainly great for aviation enthusiasts looking for a way to get a great engine view without flying Delta First! Row 21 is my favorite as it is the middle row of the 3 Premium seat rows on the 764. Tow 20 is the best option for extra leg room but be aware the IFE and safety cards are further away since it has a wall in front of the seats. The window at row 21 is perfect for sitting back and gazing out the window since it’s perfectly placed, and on a side note it’s the easiest to spot window from outside! Row 21 is my recommendation for Premium Select on the 764! • • As mentioned in the video, check out my previous Trip Report onboard Delta B757-200: • *TRIP REPORT* Delta Airlines Boeing 757-20...
