I failed to mention that while Pap (and Joseph Prince) did not believe that the key to living a Christian life is to abstain from sin, both believe(d) that we should strive to avoid sin as much as we can and live moral lives to the best of our ability. In this song, Pap wrote "If we'll come the way of Jesus, we can share in His plan too." The word "way" is critical. Jesus said that He is the way, the truth, and the life. Most folks see that Jesus is the way in that He is the perfect model for us to emulate the best we can. That is certainly true, but perhaps even more true than that, is that He is the way as in the ticket to salvation, the door to salvation. That is the narrow way, through Him. Jesus said that no man comes to the Father except by way of him. There are many other, broader "ways," such as other religions, but those ways will not lead to salvation, only to destruction. Likewise, our own righteousness is not a way that will work for us. The chorus of this song explains that faith is what is most important for us. We know that God counted Abraham's faith as righteousness, and we know that the Bible says that it is impossible to please God without faith. I failed to mention that, in my performance of the song, I added the tag at the end of Pap's song. A tag is repeating the last 1-2 lines from the chorus. As Tipper can tell you from having practiced music with Pap, Pap did not like tags. He said that if it was worth repeating a line or two, then it was worth simply singing the entire chorus again. I think Pap disliked tags because he remembered music when no one added tags, and he saw the practice come along during his lifetime and become very common or popular, almost like a musical fad. Maybe Pap would have minded me adding the tag. I just felt like it would drive home or reiterate the point of the song: we should put our faith in Jesus and not in anything else. I could not find any handwritten lyrics this time, but I typed the lyrics below. Some folks go out drinking. They party late at night. They say, "If you don't over do it, a little of it's alright." They say they go just to relax, but I know it's a fact That you can't slide down a chimney without getting a little black. I believe there's a heaven. I believe in wrong and right. I believe there's a savior. I'm afraid of His might. I know for sure there is a God. I know that it's true. If we'll come the way of Jesus, we can share in His plan too. There's so many people. Each day, we do the wrong. If the whole world keeps sinning, religion's not that strong. It's true there're lots of hypocrites. Here's one thing I've found: Anyone who won't climb higher will just try to pull you down. Repeat chorus Some folks go to church on Sunday morn and Sunday night, But they worry about not doing wrong, not about doing right. They never miss a service. They go on Wednesday too, But if you're lying on the ground, they'll step right over you. Repeat chorus Listen to original singles released on Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/artist/5VX6Z...
