Punk Rock Mutual Aid with Roman Danger

Interview with Roman Danger. We discuss his experience with C-19, (i.e., the symptoms he experienced, and how long it lasted), and how he has lost friends to death. We then explore “One Step Mutual Aid” a collective formed by Roman and others which prepare “solidarity packs” that are ziploc bags with hygiene products, clothes, food, and necessities that are then distributed to the community. He speaks on his work with One Step Mutual Aid and the other collectives that have worked together, including Cosmetic Plague and Snack Bloc LA. He explains “It only takes a spark to start a flame,” that overall people want to help their community and to support others, especially now that people have more insight into how valuable and priceless people are. We then look at the punk scene, in how different areas have different communities of punks and that their lifestyles differ, as well as how C-19 has impacted them. He speaks on how he himself became involved in the punk scene, in that coming from a harsh environment around gangs he was introduced to punk rock through relatives as a child. We then explore what he hopes to see after C-19 passes in the punk community, (i.e., that there will be more consciousness of the community, more mutual aid, and more education for younger folks).
