Hyd–Vijayawada Private Bus Catches Fire at Nandigama | 39 Passengers Escape as Driver’s Alertness

A major tragedy was narrowly avoided when a private travels bus from Hyderabad to Vijayawada caught fire near Nandigama in NTR district early morning on February 7. The driver noticed smoke coming from the rear of the bus soon after crossing the Keesara toll plaza and immediately stopped the vehicle. With quick thinking, the driver and cleaner alerted sleeping passengers and safely evacuated all 39 people before the fire spread. Within minutes, the bus was completely gutted by flames. Fire department officials rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control. Fortunately, no casualties were reported. The incident once again raises concerns over the safety of private travels buses, especially after recent fatal accidents in Kurnool and Chevella.
