💡SHIN SPLINTS REHAB 💡 ⁉️Do you have pain on the inside of your shin bone that came on suddenly after an increase in activity? 📚Shin splints aka Medial Tibial Stress Syndrome (MTSS) is a generic term used to describe a stress reaction and subsequent pain on the lower 1/3 of the inner tibia (shin bone). It extends over at least 5cm and often happens on both legs. Training errors (too much/too soon), overweight, shoe type, biomechanics can be some predisposing factors. 🎥 Here are some sample exercises to try. 1. Isometric Dorsiflexion 2. KB dorsiflexion 3. Single leg calf raise (soleus and/or gastroc bias) 4. Tibialis Posterior Calf Raises (via tennis ball) 5. Loaded Heel Walking ❗️Remember MTSS is a vague diagnosis and it’s important to rule out red flag conditions (Blood clot, stress fracture, or compartment syndrome, or periostitis) which would warrant further intervention. 📝 This is not medical advice.
