On September 4, 2025 artist Sofia Valiente and former students from Sherman Indian High School, Jasmine Chino (White Mountain Apache and Navajo Nations) and Raine Begay (Navajo Nations) and their photography teacher, Monica Royalty (descendant of the Wampanoag, Mi’kmaq, and Jumano Nations) were in conversation about the exhibition Off Reservation: Sofia Valiente and the Photo Students of Sherman Indian High School. Moderated by Amanda Wixon (Chickasaw Nation), Curator at the Autry Museum of the American West and volunteer curator at the Sherman Indian Museum, participants reflected on the student-led photography project that was completed over a two-year period at Sherman.
