http://warriorsciences.com/personal-p... Today we're going to cover the eye jab. We want to look like we don't want to engage in case deescalation is a valid option. We throw a lot of our self defense strikes from this position at first. Like in our previous striking videos, the eye jab is a straight-line shot. It's important to go from point A to point B (closest weapon, closest target) without telegraphing the strike (economy of movement). This makes it harder to defend against because your attacker will have less time to react. Your fingers will stay loose, because you don't want to jam your fingers. Some strike aim to cause damage; this strike aims for get a reaction. It's just like having something thrown in your eyes; a reaction is involuntary. This allows you to either escape or set up another, more powerful, strike. Keep this movement as simple as possible! Do not try to evenly distribute your fingers or aim for a particular eye. This is self defense, not a martial art. Personal protection cannot be about perfect form and technique. These are simple, easy to learn (and retain) movements that almost anyone can do. If you have any question or suggestions for a futute video, you can leave a comment below or on our channel.
