00:00 Sunrise 02:21 Train ride to Shimoyoshida 03:12 Arakurayama Sengen Park 04:56 Chureito Pagoda 05:40 Bus ride to Oishi Park 06:16 Oishi Park Day 3 at the Fuji Five Lakes region. We woke up early every day because of jet-lag, but that worked well that we were able to see a sunrise. We headed to the Lake Kawaguchi Ohashi Bridge to view it. In the morning, we took a train from Kawaguchiko Station to Shimoyoshida to go to Arakurayama Sengen Park. This park houses Arakura Fuji Sengen Shrine and its pagoda(Chureito). There is an observation deck on top of the mountain, which is a popular spot to see a panoramic view of Mt. Fuji and the surrounding area, together with the pagoda in the foreground. To get to the observation deck, you have to climb 398 steep steps and it is quite physically demanding, however there is also an inclined walkway to get there as well. Lucky to us, Mt. Fuji was fully visible from there. Since it turned a beautiful sunny day, we decided to return to Oishi Park in the afternoon. On the first day, we were unable to see Mt. Fuji from the park. Mt. Fuji looked a little faded in the afternoon light. Nonetheless the unobstructed view of the mountain was incredible. For dinner, we had Japanese noodles at Sansuien restaurant near the park. Also we tried some local specialities, Fujisan Cola and some fruits (strawberries and Shine Muscat grapes).
