Change management and leading change often fail because “resistance” is misdiagnosed—most of the time, it’s confusion. In this video, I break down the Resistance Myth and explain why teams don’t stall because they hate progress. They stall because they’re uncertain about the practical realities: what changes on Monday, what stays the same, what’s expected of them personally, and who supports them when it gets messy. You’ll learn the simplest (and most reliable) shift leaders can make during change: stop spending all your energy “selling the why” and start systematically reducing uncertainty. I walk through a three-part framework you can apply immediately to build trust during transformation: Cadence — Create a predictable communication rhythm (weekly updates, bi-weekly Q&A). Predictability calms an anxious system. Consistency — Ensure leaders at every level use the same language and point to one source of truth. Mixed messages create “shadow narratives.” Listening (with closure) Don’t just collect feedback. Close the loop: What we heard / What we’re doing / What we’re not doing (and why). That’s how credibility is built. Finally, I share a quick litmus test: if your team can’t clearly answer three specific questions, you don’t have a resistance problem you have a clarity problem.
