The Dill Leaves Chana Dal Recipe is a delicious dish that can be cooked every day for meal. Dill leaves is also called as Suva in Hindi, Sabsige Soppu in Kannada, Shepu in Marathi. Dill leaves is a strong herb that helps to reduce cholesterol and is very good for digestion. Serve the vegetable along with chapatti or roti to make a wholesome meal. Ingredients: 3 cups Dil leaves /shepu (chopped) 1/2 cup chana dal 1 tsp cumin seeds 1/2 tsp turmeric powder 1 tsp coriander powder 1 tsp red chili powder 2 green chilies (chopped) 1 inch ginger (chopped) 5 cloves of garlic (chopped) Pinch of asafoetida (hing) 2 medium size onions (chopped) 1 large size tomato (chopped) Oil – 2 tbsp Salt as per taste Method : Wash & soak chana dal in water for 4 hrs. Heat oil in a pan Add cumin seeds & let it splutter Add chopped green chilies, ginger, garlic & pinch of asafoetida (hing). Sauté for awhile. Add chopped onions, sprinkle salt. Sauté till onions turns translucent. Add turmeric, coriander & red chili powder. Sauté for awhile Add chopped tomato. Cover & let it cook till soft and mushy. Maintain low to medium heat. Add soaked chana dal & little water. Adjust salt as per taste. Cover and let it cook well. Finally add chopped Dill leaves. Cover and let it simmer for 2 mins. Maintain low flame. Switch off the heat and veggie is ready to be served. Enjoy with flatbread of your choice.
