Boarding the Yamagata Shinkansen from Tokyo, we headed to Yamagata, a region blanketed in snowy scenery. Our first stop was Ginzan Onsen, said to be the inspiration for Studio Ghibli's movie "Spirited Away." We stayed at a traditional inn in the charming hot spring town, indulging in delicious meals and relaxing in the onsen. The illuminated scenery at night was also enchanting. The next day, we visited the scenic Yamadera Temple, which involves climbing over 1000 steps. Trekking through the snow was challenging, but the view from the summit was breathtakingly beautiful. During our trip, we also explored the ruins of Yamagata Castle and savored the local gourmet dish, "Dondonyaki," fully experiencing the allure of Yamagata.
