In this interaction with the students of MIT, Swami Mukundananda explains the need for Spiritual Science with Material science. While technology has made our lives better, we still need spiritual science to complement it. We need spirituality to teach us the right values and morals of life, which technology cannot help us with. For example, consider a knife. In the hands of a dacoit, a knife can be used for a wrong purpose, but in the hands of a surgeon, it can be used to save lives. Similarly, the technology in itself is neither good nor bad, but the way we utilize it makes a difference, for which we need the right knowledge in the form of spiritual wisdom. The progress in technology has made us materially advanced and gives more power to accomplish things quickly, but we need spiritual knowledge to utilize the power of technology in the right direction, to make this world a better place to live.
