GAMÈTÌ FISH CAMP 2013

This video documents the fish and water monitoring camp that was held on the land near Gamètì in the Northwest Territories in September, 2013. The five-day fish camp was part of the Tłı̨chǫ Aquatic Ecosystem Monitoring Program -- a community-based program to monitor the health of fish and fish habitats near Tłı̨chǫ communities in the NWT--and to see if there are any changes to fish or water over time. At fish camp, scientists and community members (elders, youth and fishers) work together to collect fish, water and sediment samples to be sent out for testing. They also share their knowledge (scientific and traditional Tłı̨chǫ knowledge) and ways to assess the health of fish and their habitat.
