Day-boat Skipper Graham Doswell and crewman David Bray head out of Sovereign Harbour, Eastbourne on a windy gray day in May 2011 to fish for cuttlefish a few miles down the coast in Normans Bay in the English Channel. They use cuttlefish pots (traps), returning after 48 hours to empty the pots, always leaving one female cuttlefish behind to act as a lure. The black 'grapes' that can be seen on the outside of the traps are cuttlefish eggs. The cuttle are placed immediately into ice slurry, which some fishermen don't do because it 'spoils the colour' but top restaurants insist on for maximum quality. Back at the berth the cuttle are weighted and sorted into chill boxes, to be driven up to London for restaurants who have joined the Pisces Responsible FIsh Restaurant initiative for delivery later in the day.
