Join Deb in embodying the Divine Feminine with your #InnerGoddessTeam, Greek Goddess Aphrodite, celebrated in July/August at the Festival of Aphrodisia. And be sure to check out my website to learn more about my Moon Circles, Meditations, and Divinely Feminine Coaching (https://spiritedliving.com/divinely-f...! Aphrodite was the goddess of love, beauty, and fertility, born from the bloody froth that foamed when Kronos castrated his father, the sky god Ouranos, with a sickle, and threw the dismembered organs into the sea. Aphrodite emerged from the waves… most famously captured in the Italian artist Botticelli’s “Birth of Venus” (her Roman counterpart). Her sacred symbols are the dove, myrtle, and the rose, and she is associated with the Mesopotamian goddess of love, Ishtar, and the Egyptian goddess, Isis, as well as the Yoruban orisha, Oshun and Norse goddess, Freya. The Festival of Aphrodisia was held in several places, especially in Attica and on Cyprus, during the month of Hekatombaion (July/August). It seems that temples of Aphrodite were purified with the blood of doves, and no other blood sacrifices (usually male, white goats) were permitted during the festival. The preferred offerings were fire, flowers, and incense. Celebrations of the Aphrodisia also included processions carrying images or statues of the goddess which were then washed with water. In Cyprus, one of her legendary birthplaces, initiates of the goddess’ mysteries were given salt from the sea, and bread shaped like a phallus. There are many well-known myths involving Aphrodite which you can easily google… I like to highlight the lesser-known details of well-known goddesses! You can call on Aphrodite when you: Want to attract more love into your life, in the form of partner, or perhaps increased connection with someone already special to you Are committed to focusing on the beauty that surrounds you and is within you, rather than the ugliness in the world. Some ways that you can honor her: List the many ways that you love yourself! Sing the chant below to someone you love. Buy something beautiful for your home & thank her for her inspiration! Here’s the chant I shared from Libby Roderick to sing to yourself and anyone you love! How could anyone ever tell you That you're anything less than beautiful. How could anyone every tell you That you're less than whole. How could anyone fail to notice That your love is like a miracle. How deeply you're connected to my soul. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Deb works with those who want to meet challenges and changes with a spirit of sacredness. ☽︎ https://spiritedliving.com/life-caree...
