Today I review the NEW HOT Orange Chicken from Panda Express®! ($10.70) Panda Express® is turning up the heat on its most iconic dish. The fast food chain has just launched a spicy version of its beloved orange chicken entree that is in stores now through June 23. The company says the new Hot Orange Chicken entree provides a spicy twist on the fan-favorite dish by adding “six scoops of crushed chilis and a ladle full of dried chilies.” It’s the same chilis used in the restaurant chain’s Kung Pao Chicken, the company said Panda Express posted a behind-the-scenes look at the process for creating the Hot Orange Chicken dish with its Culinary Innovation Manager Adrian Lok. “I really love orange chicken but I always wished it could be a little bit spicier,” Lok says prior to cooking up the dish. “Normally, our orange chicken recipe has one teaspoon of crushed chili. Let’s amp it up today by adding six.” Lok described the dish as sweet and tangy with spice levels that are “kicked up a notch” with a heat level that gradually builds.
