Cy-Ens Lullabyte Portamenti Voice, Theremin, Live Coding, Generative Algorithms, Sound Synthesis LullaByte Portamenti was originally presented as a live performance by M P | v H+ Cybernetic Ensemble at MUTEK, Edition 21, in September 2020. The video document now released consists of excerpts from movements 5 through 7 of the eight-movement work. While this material does not encompass the full conceptual arc of the complete performance, it nevertheless reveals the core performative and computational dynamics unfolding on stage. Within these excerpts, v H+ (Honey Haq Pazhutan) is seen constructing multi-layered portamento vocal architectures through singing into computational processors, intertwining live vocal performance, algorithmic transformation, and theremin playing. The voice becomes both source and structure, iterated, folded, and spatialized in real time. In parallel, M P (Max Pazhutan) performs portamento-mediated patterns on fretless bass, articulating continuous pitch trajectories that resonate with the fluid, gliding logic of the work’s sonic environment. These gestures function as connective tissue between the organic body of performance and the underlying algorithmic substrate. Their tools include Max/MSP, SuperCollider, Pure Data, Nintendo DSi, Korg Monotron, Korg AX3000B, and Ableton Live, employed across a distributed cybernetic biosphere, which the duo fluidly live-code and perform over. The video lighting system, entirely designed and programmed by v H+, operates on a dedicated computer system on stage, running in parallel with the audio processes. The lighting is not illustrative but structural, coded as an extension of the sonic architecture, reinforcing the immersive, soothing, and meditative qualities of the work.
