Should you buy a high mileage car? The myth behind not buying high mileage cars goes back to the 1970's and 1980's when everyone was told not to waste your money on a high mileage car because it will break down. But todays cars are built to last, a modern diesel car will do in excess of 400,000 miles and a petrol car will do in excess of 150,000 miles if serviced at regally intervals. So you need to decide should I buy an old car with high mileage or a younger car with high mileage or even an old car with low mileage. There are other things to think about, such as shock absorbers, bushes, exhaust etc. the older the car the more small things might need to be replaced over time(ware and tare).
