The narrow‐band imaging (NBI) International Colorectal Endoscopic (NICE) classification is widely used around the world as a universal NBI endoscopic classification that is available without magnifying endoscopy. However, as histopathological criteria of curative endoscopic resection for early colorectal cancers are becoming clear in Japan, endoscopists are required to diagnose their invasion depth accurately with magnifying endoscopy and obtain deeper histopathological materials by endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR)/endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD). Therefore, we need a new classification that provides accurate qualitative and quantitative diagnosis linking the appropriate treatment strategy including polypectomy, EMR/ESD, and surgery. This is why Japan NBI Expert Team (JNET) proposed the JNET classification as a universal NBI magnifying endoscopic classification in 2014.1-5 This classification consists of four categories: JNET type 1, type 2A, type 2B, and type 3. Each type represents the histological features of the polyps, and they are categorized by focusing on two specific features, vessel pattern and surface pattern (Figs 1,2). Without any guidance, it is quite difficult for beginners and young endoscopists to make appropriate use of this classification. Therefore, we publish this video article to assist learning this classification correctly. In this video article, the JNET classification will be introduced with specific examples. In the future, image‐enhanced endoscopy for colorectal polyps using magnifying endoscopy will spread worldwide. To confirm the diagnostic accuracy of this classification in daily practice, many validation studies are waiting to be conducted worldwide.
