Can you solve a functional equation? You most likely may find one solution through guessing, but do you have the critical thinking skills to find all? Let's find out! To create additional discussion, the equation in this video could be generalized in one of three ways: first, if we choose to subtract an arbitrary linear transformation of f from itself and set it equal to 2x - 1; second, if we set the difference of the functions equal to an arbitrary polynomial; and third, the most general, investigate when does a sum of a function and its linear transformation equal a polynomial. I haven't worked on these at all, nor am I too interested, so the questions may be ill-posed and the solutions may be trivial.
