A two day trek to the Qooqqup Glacier, Middleland, Narsarsuaq, Greenland

26km trek to see the Qooqqup Glacier which is actively calving ice into the Qooqqut Fjord, offers a popular 2-day wilderness trek across the Middle Land (Mellem Landet) plateau from Narsarsuaq. Traversing the pretty Bloomersdalen and the outwash plain of the Kuusuaq River, the route includes a rigorous 300 metre climb up a trail by the falls at the head of the valley. From here, a further 300 metres ascent taking in views of the Kuussuup Glacier, past numerous lakes set in pathless bogland and a final scramble up a rocky knoll brings you to a spectacular viewpoint above the nose of the Qooqqup Glacier and panoramic views down the Qooqqut Fjord which is choked with ice floes and icebergs.
