Altinkum was the only place in Turkey I had previously visited, way back in 2010. My parents had bought an apartment there and they treated me to a holiday at the end of each of my years at Uni. I arrived in Altinkum before the tourist season had really started but there were enough English immigrants there to ensure that the bars and restaurants were open. I spent a full day exploring Altinkum and another day walking up to Didim to visit the ruins of the Temple of Apollo.
