This brutal but yet good looking 1953 Turbo Diesel Studebaker pickup truck is for sale in our Gateway Classic Cars Showroom. Turbo Diesel, What?!? That’s right, diesel trucks are some of the hottest vehicles going in the aftermarket scene this days. So it only makes sense that some of your favorite old school pickups would be sporting a more modern turbo diesel alternative. Most likely the owner started with just a Studebaker truck cab, and from there he let his mind ran wild. The cab was mated to a 1986 Chevrolet C30 one ton truck frame in order to handle the heavy modifications. The huge rear end has been source from an IH School Bus and just screams massive, especially with the huge steam roller 445/50R22.5 single track semi truck tires. The front tires compliment the rear for a big and little look, but are still are a whopping 265/35R22 radial tires, with a custom set of steel wheels to pull it all together. Under the hood of this road warrior is DT 360 CID International turbo diesel engine. The engine has been mated to a 4L80E transmission and is operated much like a manual transmission by just flipping a few switches to get from one gear to the next. It’s actually pretty neat the way it works! While the Cab is all Studebaker, the truck bed is of a 1955 Chevrolet origin, with the truck bed fenders being a bit of a mystery as to what they really are. The owner decided to use them and added 11 inches so they would fit the big meaty tires. If you want to give the truck a lower stance simply take the air out of the air bags, then when you’re ready to roll out just add air back. The exterior has been finished in Hot Rod Black with the bumpers, grill and wheels being finished in Gun Metal Gray. The huge 4 inch exhaust pipe has been finished in satin silver and really stands out against the satin black finish of the truck. The only chrome is the head light rings and with their natural aging fit in perfectly with the whole theme of this Studebaker. While this Studebaker looks like it could be in the next Mad Max movie, or hanging out at the local Rat Rod scene, it actually rides and drives out very well.
