The Rural Access to Physical Activity (RAPA) Action Team made this video in order to show people from other communities the challenge of getting around East Preston actively and safely, the impact the situation has on the community, and what it would mean to have a walkable safe community. The team hired Tyler Nadolny to make the video with the help of a Recreation Nova Scotia Grant. The Rural Access to Physical Activity (RAPA) Team, part of the Healthy Halifax Communities Partnership, are committed to sharing this video with many stakeholders including government departments in order to clearly show the need for change and the potential impact of change in helping East Preston become a healthier and connected community. Over the past 2 years, the team has been working to advocate for change and have even produced an Active Transportation Plan for the community. Currently, the group is awaiting a staff report in order to have the Plan become part of the AT Priorities Plan. There is much work to be done, however, and being a rural area, the Province also needs to be on board as the #7 road is provincial jurisdiction. To help Contact: EastPrestonActivePlan@gmail.com
