During the Prohibition era in America (1920–1933), alcohol was banned completely - you couldn’t make, sell, or drink it. But there was no law against grape juice. That’s where Vine-Glo stepped in. They sold solid grape juice blocks called grape bricks. Legally, it was just juice. But the real twist was in the label. The box came with a “warning” - saying if you mix it with water and yeast, and leave it in a dark cupboard for 21 days, it would turn into wine. And you should definitely not do that. People got the hint. Wine started fermenting secretly in kitchens across America - technically within the law. When the government tried to add more warnings, it was too late. Grape juice became the secret doorway to home-brewed alcohol. Eventually, the experiment failed - people got sick, grapes overflooded the market, and deaths increased. In 1933, the government gave up - they didn’t just legalize alcohol again, they started monetizing it. Vine-Glo showed that when sellers get smarter than the system, the system has to adapt. #history #america #addiction #stop #fail
