TRUMP AND PUTIN PHONECALL President Vladimir Putin has committed in a phone call with Donald Trump to limit Russian attacks on Ukrainian energy assets but declined to agree on a broader 30-day ceasefire as the US had sought. Putin also imposed several conditions for a lasting ceasefire, including the suspension of arms and intelligence support for Ukraine. UKRAINE'S CEASEFIRE HOPES The Trump-Putin call was a substantial stepping stone for progress on the Russia-Ukraine ceasefire deal. As the dust settles from an hours-long talk between the leaders of the U.S. and Russia, reactions have begun to come in from Ukraine. GERMANY BOOSTS DEFENSE Let’s move to Germany now.
