The peacebuilding portfolio in Madagascar | United Nations Peace Building Fund - PBF

Madagascar faces peace-related challenges: cyclical political crises have weakened the country, tensions and insecurity threaten social cohesion. The United Nations support the government's efforts for peace and security through the Peace Building Fund (PBF) portfolio. This Fund finances projects implemented by UN agencies and NGOs. Active in Madagascar since 2016, this portfolio intervenes in different regions to respond to the needs and priorities identified with the government: stabilization and securing the South, support for security sector reform, democratic governance and the participation of youth and women, as well as on cross-cutting themes such as human rights. By basing its interventions on the Humanitarian-Development-Peace Nexus, the portfolio proposes a holistic and integrated approach that draws on the expertise of different agencies and implementing partners, promotes catalytic effects for greater impact, and leaves no one behind.
