"The Last Tribe" Director: Amit Goswamy Producer: Wildlife Moments India (Collaboration with Wildlife Moments India) In the ongoing extremist war of south-eastern India, the isolation has provided ideal conditions for the extremists to hide along with giving refuge to the most primitive tribe of mainland India. 'The Last Tribe' is a study of environmental crisis in one of India's war zone, through the lens of a wildlife biologist, who is now commanding the operations. The documentary was made in real time operational scenario, in one of the naxal affected areas of Odisha, India. During the deployment in the naxal zone the Director of the documentary Mr Amit Goswamy was serving in India's Border Security Force as Assistant Commandant. Being a trained wildlife biologist as well, he viewed this operational deployment as an opportunity to explore wilderness in this untrodden landscape. The remoteness of the landscape was also an opportunity for him to explore the wildlife of this naxal affected area. During his tenure he encountered a primitive tribe, living in the far flung regions of this regions. In order to understand the impact of naxals on their culture he launched an operation. This story 'The Last Tribe' gives us an opportunity to be part of this adventure and explore the beauty of this untouched landscape.
