TRANSCRIPT: My name is Matthew Edwards, and I'm an associate professor of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery and the medical director of the Vascular Center. My clinical interests are really most anything that would fit within the confines of general vascular surgery and endovascular therapy. I guess if we had to pin it down to specialty interests, it would be carotid disease, diseases of the renal vasculature, and complex endovascular therapy. I think everything we do should be patient-centered considering everything from obviously their symptoms, the anatomy of their problem, their social support network, the family network, where they live. All of those things need to factor in to the way we take care of that patient and the services and resources that we apply to them. At Wake Forest Baptist, with the new Vascular Center, we have individuals from multiple specialties who approach the problems from a multitude of directions. We all meet together and we generate care plans that are individualized for each patient based on what's best for each patient. And that's something that you're not going to get anywhere else in western North Carolina.
