I Opened a Sealed Jar of River Water After 1 Year

What happens when you open up a jar of sealed river water after 1 year? The smell was, well, unexpected. The pressure in the jar was also surprising and was not what I expected at all! This closed ecosystem, one of many I've put together, is an amazing testament to the resilience of life in extreme environments, and also is a gross reminder of what lives in the water of the river or lake that you may have grown up swimming in each summer, or maybe still swim in today!
