You all know I think Mercedes Airmatic suspension is great, but like any suspension system, it does require some work from time to time. In this video I go over the procedure to replace the front air bag and strut setup in the front of the car. Replacing the front struts did not completely cure my suspension issues, so this video also includes an in depth, step by step, how to, on replacing the rear shocks with OEM Mercedes shock absorbers. The OEM suspension parts for this car are not cheap, but you can save a lot of money by doing the install yourself. I was quoted $3,800 from an independent Mercedes mechanic to replace just the front struts. I was able to get OEM parts and do the install myself for $1,700. The rear shocks were an additional $900 with an easy DIY install. My air system seems to be holding fine for now at 111k miles, so with new shocks all around and new bags up front, the ride quality from this Airmatic suspension, is the best it has been since I have had the car.
