This was held on Wednesday 23rd October 2019 to celebrate / commemorate 43 years of service (1976 - 2019). The special 'claim to fame' of these trains were their being the first British trains to be able to operate on both 25Kv AC overhead wires and 750v DC third rail. The train ran from Kings Cross to Royston via Welwyn Garden City, then to Hertford North. After lunch it ran from Hertford North to Moorgate (changing from AC overhead wires to DC third rail at Drayton Park) and then to Hornsy Reversing Sidings before returning to Kings Cross station. I travelled on the train and some of the film comes from inside the train during the journey. Although no longer used on this route, a small fleet of Class 313 trains are still in full public service on Southern services along the south coast (based upon Brighton) whilst similar but single voltage trains can still be found other some other rail services in London, Glasgow and Merseyside (Liverpool and environs). Please note, especially in the section whilst underground you will hear me talking with some other passengers, including a well known transport enthusiast. Also, all footage seen (and sounds heard) were filmed by me - this includes the blue / grey liveried Class 313 trains seen in the cover image and at Moorgate station. I was a teenage schoolboy when I filmed them.
