Earlier today I got word that train 6650 suffered an equipment failure in Kings Park, and when I arrived at the station I found DE30AC 412 completely dead on track 2. By now I'm no stranger to this concept so I was able to capture three failed startup attempts of the locomotive before the crew called it quits. A few hours later rescue engine 158 showed up, and little did I know the show had just begun. 158 coupled to the East end of the train instead of the West, meaning they were setup to drag the equipment to Port Jeff yard instead of back to the shops. During the chase my ears were repeatedly blessed by 158's beautiful K5LA as well as some amazing notch 8 action. The first clip of the chase at St. James begins with distant horn/throttling audio from a little under 2 miles away, followed by the rescue train blowing past my location at Railroad Avenue. From there I was just able to beat them to Stony Brook to see them knock down the position lights at STONY 2, and finally I got them coming into the East yard at Port Jeff. DE 418 was tagged onto the West end of the rescue consist for the final move back to the shops, seen at Kings Park one final time. Didn't bring my night camera setup since I didn't expect to be out for so long, so I apologize for the noisy footage towards the end. Stood in the rain for 6 hours running off of two scrambled eggs and a water bottle, but it was well worth it. Please watch in 4K
