A Filipino deaf vlogger finds a community online (Full Documentary) | ABS-CBN News

Presented by #NoFilter, “Kawalan” (Loss) is a 2019 documentary by journalist Jeff Canoy that tells the story of 21-year-old Jasmin Ariola, a deaf vlogger, and how she had dealt with the loss of her father. Jasmin is usually spotted rummaging through an assortment of clothes on display at various ‘ukay-ukay’ in Olongapo City. Jasmin's mother, Prescilla, recalls the harsh and malicious comments often thrown at her and her family for having three deaf children. The program then gets to know Jasmin’s connection with her father, who passed away last May. It also presents some clips from her vlogs, which stands out in silence in the middle of the upbeat world of vlogging. In this documentary told primarily in sign language, the documentary presents how Jasmin's channel also became a refuge for the deaf community.
