It’s part of the larger Colonia Roma, which is divided into Roma Norte and Roma Sur. Roma Norte, in particular, has become a hotspot for expats, digital nomads, artists, and food lovers, offering a mix of historical charm, cultural richness, and modern amenities. What Makes Roma Norte Special? 1. Historic and Artistic Atmosphere Roma Norte was originally developed in the early 20th century as an upscale European-style neighborhood. Today, it retains beautiful Art Nouveau and Art Deco architecture, tree-lined streets, and a bohemian feel. The area has long been a cultural hub, attracting creatives and intellectuals. 2. Cafés, Restaurants, and Nightlife Roma Norte is home to some of the best restaurants, cafés, and bars in Mexico City. You’ll find everything from high-end dining to street food, including Michelin-recognized spots and some of the best tacos in the city. • Pujol (one of Latin America’s top restaurants) is nearby. • Contramar is famous for seafood, especially the tuna tostadas. • Taquería Orinoco is a must-visit for tacos. • Panadería Rosetta is known for its delicious pastries. 3. Cultural and Artistic Scene The neighborhood is full of art galleries, bookstores, independent cinemas, and street art. Some must-visit spots include: • Galería OMR (contemporary art) • Museo del Objeto del Objeto (MODO) • Cineteca Nacional (nearby in Coyoacán) and Cine Tonalá for indie films 4. Parks and Green Spaces Roma Norte is one of the most walkable neighborhoods in CDMX, with parks like: • Plaza Río de Janeiro, known for its replica of Michelangelo’s David. • Parque España, a popular hangout spot with jogging trails and dog-friendly spaces. • Parque México, located right next door in Condesa, is perfect for a stroll. 5. Expats and Digital Nomad Hub Due to its high quality of life, safety, and cultural scene, Roma Norte has become one of the most popular areas for foreigners living in Mexico City, especially digital nomads. Many cafés offer fast WiFi, and there are co-working spaces like WeWork and Público. 6. Real Estate and Cost of Living • Renting in Roma Norte is more expensive than many other areas of CDMX but still affordable compared to major U.S. cities. • It’s a prime area for Airbnb rentals, so short-term stays can be pricey. • It’s a great neighborhood for real estate investment, given its growing popularity. Things to Consider • Cost: It’s one of the pricier neighborhoods in Mexico City. • Traffic and Noise: Some areas, especially near Avenida Álvaro Obregón, can be noisy. • Gentrification: As it has become more popular, some locals have been pushed out due to rising rents. Conclusion If you’re looking for a neighborhood with culture, amazing food, nightlife, and a cosmopolitan feel, Roma Norte is one of the best places to visit or live in Mexico City. It’s a mix of old and new, where historic mansions sit alongside modern cafés and trendy boutiques. Would you be interested in making a YouTube video about Roma Norte?
