SBCoFD Firefighters Knock Down Garage Fire In Two Story Residence San Bernardino, CA — Yesterday, San Bernardino County Fire Protection District crews responded to a reported structure fire on the 5600 block of Palomar Avenue in the City of San Bernardino. The first arriving engine company reported heavy smoke and fire coming from the attached garage of a two-story single-family residence. Firefighters quickly deployed hose lines and initiated an aggressive interior attack. Simultaneously, a truck company was assigned to the roof, where they cut ventilation openings to release heat and smoke. Through coordinated efforts between the interior crews and the truck company, firefighters were able to limit lateral fire spread and protect the living space of the residence. Knockdown of the fire was declared approximately 20 minutes after arrival. In total, five engine companies, one truck company, one battalion chief, one fire investigator, and one public information officer responded to the incident. There were no reported injuries to civilians or firefighters. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the San Bernardino County Fire Office of the Fire Marshal. SBCoFD reminds residents of the importance of having working smoke alarms and practicing home evacuation plans to ensure safety in the event of a fire.
