The plane crashed into the back of the embankment of the Basilica of Superga. Of the 31 people on board, none survived. Manchester United Football Team, Munich air disaster, 6 febbraio 1958. The plane skidded off the end of the runway, crashed into the fence surrounding the airport and across a road before its port wing was torn off as it caught a house. Eight Manchester Utd's players died. Luigi Meroni, Torino, 15 October 1967. Died hit by a car while crossing Corso Re Umberto in Turin with his friend and teammate Fabrizio Poletti. Gaetano Scirea, Juventus, 3 September 1989. A car carrying him collided head-on with a truck near Babsk. The car carried four canisters of gasoline in the trunk, which exploded upon impact, killing Scirea and two of three other passengers. Andres Escobar, Atletico National, 2 July 1994, Escobar's own goal occurred in a match against the United States on June 22. 2 July Escobar was shot six times after he went to a bar in the El Poblado. Antonio Puerta, Sevilla, 28 August 2007, suffered cardiac arrest during Sevilla's first La Liga match of the 2007–08 campaign at homeground Sánchez Pizjuán against Getafe CF. Daniel Jarque, Espanyol, 8 August 2009, he was on the phone with his girlfriend in the team hotel when he suffered a heart attack. Piermario Morosini, Livorno, 14 April 2012, suffered cardiac arrest and fell to the ground in the 31st minute of the Serie B match away to Pescara. Chapecoense Football Team, LaMia Flight 2933, 28 November 2016, The plane, carrying 77 people, including the staff and players from the club, crashed as it approached Medellín, Colombia; 71 people died (including 21 journalists and almost the entire first team and managerial staff) and six survived.
