Get the tab: http://www.PlayBetterBanjo.com/tab I got an email from longtime PlayBetterBanjo member, Sig yesterday in which he mentioned that he was working on some 3 finger bluesy playing and that he was really digging the Rev. Gary Davis recording of "Out on the Ocean Sailing". I'm a big fan of Rev. Gary Davis myself but I was not familiar with this song or the Rev's version. Although I had seen a picture or two of the Rev hanging around in the same room as a 5 string banjo, I was also unaware that he had ever recorded on the 5 string banjo! To my knowledge, most of his banjo recordings were done on a 6-string 'GuitJo' so this caught my interest and I couldn't help but to go ahead and transcribe/adapt a bit of the Rev's approach. I'm sure as time goes on I'll probably change up my approach, add some licks and tweak some fingerings here and there but, as it stands today, this is what I've got. I've included the tab so you can get your feet wet with this one, yourself. Be sure to use the tab as a jumping off point and not a definitive version.
