Join the MPA Collaborative Network's Black Community Group and their partners at the Black Image Center for a mini-showcase and panel discussion on the intersection of photography, environmental advocacy, and the impacts of environmental injustice on Black communities. A central focus of the MPACN Black Community Group is to create spaces where “...Black folks who are passionate about the ocean and marine life can come together and share resources, support each other, and interweave our passions for food, music, film, artistic expression, and other opportunities to create joy collectively.” Partnering with the Black Image Center in support of the Coast in Color residency allowed the Black Community Group to fulfill its purpose and explore unique connections between Black communities and marine ecosystems through photography. We are honored to be joined by California Coast in Color artist residents Eddie Hemphill and Nasir Grissom along with program creators, Maya June Mansour (Co-Founder of Black Image Center) and T'Essence Minnitee (Co-Founder of Environmentally U).
