The Galo tribe is a beautiful tribe that resides in Arunachal Pradesh, India. They have a rich culture and heritage. This traditional folk song is one of the heritage folk songs of the Galo Tribe, which narrates the story of the sun and how the creatures on earth (humans and animals) started crime, violence, murder, and hate among them. The folk song's plot: This tribe believes that long ago, two suns appeared, causing great heat on Earth that harmed all living things. Droughts were severe on Earth, causing water and food scarcity. The human (Tani) convenes a gathering of all living species to solve the problem. Later, they all agree to kill the other sun. Tammo (a solar eclipse) was given the task of shooting down the other sun with an arrow. Tammo (Solar Eclipse) waited for the sun to rise the next day, and as the two suns awoke, Tammo (Solar Eclipse) fired down the second sun. The other sun was furious at this. Her rage was palpable. She was deeply offended and returned to her location, deciding not to rise again. Later, the earth was enveloped in darkness once more. Because of the darkness, they are unable to see or move. They arrange another meeting to persuade the sun to rise. They then decided that Riri Punyi (the Galo tribes considered to be the Sun's birds) could persuade the Sun to rise because she is the Sun's favorite bird. Later, she went to the sun and told her that Earth's living species could not survive without her and that Earth is nothing without her. Later, the sun agrees to rise on the condition that they present her with a devil's baby to eat before rising. The Bat (the Galo tribe regarded the Bat as a demonic bird) eavesdropped on their talk, and before the Riri Punyi (the Sun's bird) shared the message, the Bat conveyed the contrary of what the Sun said. The evil bat conveys to humans that the sun wants to eat a human baby before it rises. The people were surprised to hear the message because they referred to themselves as the Sun's nephews (this tribe believed that humans are the Sun's progeny). The human then caught a baby monkey, dressed it like a human baby, and offered it to the sun, but she discovered it was a monkey infant. As a result, she is unable to eat the monkey infant because the monkey also belongs to the Sun. With no other options, humans opted to offer a human newborn to the sun. The sun discovered it was a human baby, but she agreed to eat it, saying, "I asked for the devil baby, but it's a human baby, my nephew," but she ate the baby before rising. The sun later warned every living thing not to look at her when she arrived, since she had sinned by murdering her own nephew. If they watch her, sin will ascend for everyone. But they became enthralled to see the sun's first rise. They all saw the sunrise at that time, and the sin ascendant them all. This is why humans began to commit crimes, murder, and fight, and why animals also started to kill humans and other animals.
