Orthopaedics doesn’t stop after your three years of PG. This video is not to discourage you by it’s to give you context. After fellowship, the struggle continues. Senior residency in medical colleges often means no real hands-on work. Corporate hospitals take you in as a clinical associate, but your surgical exposure depends on one boss. Clinics can’t give you the OT or trauma experience orthopaedics is built on. Hospitals bargain surgeons against each other, paying peanuts while charging patients in lakhs. So what’s left? Your own setup. And that means heavy investment: • C-arm — ₹13 to 15 lakhs • Anaesthesia workstation — ₹4.5 lakhs • OT table — ₹2.5 lakhs • Modular OT — ₹5 to 6 lakhs Every piece of equipment comes in two versions the cheap one, and the one that actually lasts. Even after spending this, you still face endless certifications more about money than quality. And patients come with expectations of 100% results, zero scars, zero complications. But biology doesn’t work that way.
