CHEAPEST SURF TRIP EVER! 25$ a day

I left the mentawai islands because I got the wave of my life and I wanted to retire from surfing. I wanted to go get a job or climb a volcano or something. I went to Bali to gather my thoughts, apply for jobs, and plan a trek. Then a swell popped up. A big swell. And everyone wouldn’t stop taking about it. So I decided to go on the cheapest surf trip ever. Because I was broke, I broke my only board, and I left all my belongings in the mentawais. This is how the cheapest surf trip ever was born. The swell was a few days out, I left Uluwatu on my motorbike and headed towards the airport. At that moment anything could have happened. I could have ended up taking a job and flying out that night, I could have gone to Java to try and climb volcanos and surf g land, but I made the last minute call to drive to the Lombok ferry, and head to west sumbawa. I crossed Lombok in the middle of the night and the sun rose on the ferry to sumbawa. I made it to scar reef, rented a board, and scored supersuck for a few hours during the peak of the swell. Didn’t get the one but saw the one, and put in some solid time at the spot so I can be more confident next time I’m surfing there. Then I did an epic volcano climb in Lombok called mount Rinjani an insane volcano sunrise hike that was very challenging barefoot and while carrying a porter stick. Drove back to Uluwatu for my sister’s birthday party. Indonesia is the best place ever. 125$ for a 5 day surf trip when I had nothing but a few pairs of boardies.
