Nikita Shestakov - Prelude No. 2 Op. 10 (Piano - Nikita Shestakov)

Prelude No. 2 in F# major is a very special piece from my Opus 10. As composer, I am very open to learning different styles, albeit my own. Different language and culture can enrich each other, as a certain culture or musical language ephasise certain things more, express them stronger. French culture and music was always a mysterious and fascinating world for me. In this Prelude No. 2 I tried to reflect on the phenomena called "Impressionism". Being inspired mostly by Debussy, I tried to understand this phenomena and it's very different, "observing" perspective compared to the excessively emotional perspective in romantic styles. However, I quickly realized that every composer has a mark of him(her)self, which cannot be removed from his/her music even if he/she approaches a very contrasting style from his/her own. And that what happened to me while composing this Prelude. The final result is a mix of Impressionistic textures and aesthetic with my own style, which is highly emotionally expressive. The outcome is unique, an expression I've never heard before, as usually a musical composition focuses on one of the two aspects, but combining them in one piece is very unusual. P.s.
