This condition typically manifests weeks or months after the procedure and may be exacerbated by sexual activity or ejaculation. The underlying cause of congestive epididymitis is the accumulation of sperm in the epididymis, a coiled structure at the back of the testicle where sperm mature and are stored. After a vasectomy, the vas deferens—the duct that transports sperm from the testicles to the urethra—is severed. This prevents sperm from being ejaculated, but sperm production continues. Typically, the excess sperm is produced after the body reabsorbs a vasectomy. However, in some cases, the lower segment of the vas deferens can become obstructed, leading to increased pressure within the epididymis. This pressure buildup can cause discomfort, though it generally doesn't pose a significant health risk. While many individuals experience no symptoms, those who do find the discomfort bothersome may benefit from: ▶️ Nonsteroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs): Over-the-counter NSAIDs like ibuprofen or naproxen can help reduce inflammation and alleviate symptoms. ▶️ Scrotal Heat Therapy: Applying heat to the scrotum can help reduce sperm production and relieve discomfort. Here's how: • Heat water during 5-7 minutes • Place water in a metal bottle • Place a small towel over the scrotum to protect the skin • Place the bottle on the towel • Apply the heat for 45 minutes once daily for 14 days, exercising caution to avoid burns. ▶️ Key Points to remember: • It is a heavy sensation over the testicles • Can Happed on one or both sides with or without symptoms • It is a result of sperm production • It doesn’t always require treatment • Anti- inflommatories and scrotal boths are helpful If you experience persistent discomfort or have concerns about your condition, it's essential to consult with a healthcare professional for a proper diagnosis and treatment plan.
