On the 4th day of August, 2008, in the wee hours of thr mornign climbers were pushing up to climb K2. The joy and excitment of reaching the top of the world was energizing each step, as the mountaineers braved their way up. Little did they know that a tragedy was to happen, less than a hundred meters away from the summit. Tragedy did strike, killing 11 mountaineers, among them two residents of Shimshal Valley; Jahan Baig (27) and Meherban Karim (26). Both were active members of the society, and their death shocked the whole valley. Mr. Ghulam Mustafa Shaheen, one of the finest poets of Wakhi language, wrote a eulogy in their honor. The eulogy helped the community celebrate their lives, while also mounring over their death. This song is dedicated to the fallen mountaineers.
