Buying a Delicious Falafel Wrap - Middle Eastern Street Food: by “Friendly Falafels”, Hampstead.

This is one of Hampsteads (& London's) best kept secret eating places. If you've ever been to South End Green, (in Hampstead near the Royal Free Hospital) in the evenings (or in the afternoon on a Sunday); then surely you will have seen these guys (or even have been fortunate enough to have gotten a taste of their falafels), they seem to have been here forever............actually they were established in 1989 (that's nearly 30 years, so they must be doing something right!!!) We think that this shop qualifies as one of the smallest mobile falafel wrap shops in the world, it is absolutely tiny; but everything required is in place to produce some of the most delicious falafal wraps & boxes around. On the day of our visit we were quite hungry, so had no option but to have the fully loaded wrap;-) What makes the wrap such a treat is that they wrap everything up using a "Middle Eastern Saj Bread style" wholemeal flatbread. There is no secret to the recipe & preparation because they make everything in full view of you. It's all started by being given a generous spread of: Humus and then filled with the following: An Aubergine & Split Beans mix. Lettuce Salad. Grated Carrot. Finely chopped Red Cabbage. & of course the freshly made Falafel balls (The actual recipe is a secret but Anat kindly reveals that some of the ingredients include Cumin, Garlic & Coriander; & was created from a family recipe and perfected over the last 26 years). & then finally given a generous drizzle of: Tahina (Sesame) sauce. Sweet Chilli & Hot Chilli sauces. This is restaurant quality food but at street food prices!!!
