VOILA - Short MoCap 3d Film

Voila was animated, modeled, shot and edited by me using Autodesk Maya, Mudbox and Final Cut Pro. I had never made a 3d animation prior to this film, so this was a huge learning process. In order to achieve the high quality motion capture you see in this film, a suit from ShadowMocap was utilized. Their suits are amazing for speeding up animation workflows, and I appreciate their extremely friendly and helpful attitude. I came up with the concept for this film one night very long ago, and I ended up making a storyboard which I filed away after shooting a few test shots with some cardboard and clay props. Recently I took a specialization class at a community college where I wanted to make a motion capture animated film. I had another concept for my animation, but it didn’t sit right with me, and at the eleventh hour I found the storyboard for Voila and decided to finally bring it to life.
