From the non-descript high street shop which shows no signs of glossy marketing or fancy point-of-sale window displays, to the cluttered and apparent chaos inside, Kevin has been producing beautifully hand-crafted shoes for over thirty years. What started out as a hobby and a passion, developed over time and eventually became his living. Taught and mentored by the late master shoemaker - Pietro Cortesi, Kevin's work has covered a huge variety of both men and women's footwear styles over the years, with much of his work commissioned by television, film and theatre companies whose costume departments demanded the most authentic footwear, attracted to his focus on historical period shoes and boots. Having passed by Kevin's shop many times over the years, and intrigued by the work he did, I approached him with my request to make a short film. Over the course of several weeks I was able to call in, observe, and film him at work. ...this short film is the result. I hope you enjoy.
