Updated Up and Over after the Wildfire - Two to Three Lake Portage on November 1, 2025

Roughly half of the Mantario Trail was burnt over the spring/summer of 2025: CBC article June 22: https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/manito... The fire was identified as: Ontario: KEN#20, Manitoba: EA063 Although still officially, how it was started is still "Under Investigation", the thought was that it started from sparks off from a passing train on the CN mainline. This meant that the wilderness zone, including the Mantario water route, was closed until late fall. I found out that it had been reopened, and I had a day off, so I figured I would spend it productively. I did create a video several years ago for comparison:    • Up and Over - Two Lake to Three Lake   Nice day trip: 22km paddling, with an additional 7km portaging (out and back). I needed to saw one tree that was blocking a portage. Most of the portages were dry (as dry as these portages ever get anyway) - which was unusual given the amount of recent rain.
